The chair was one of Damian Priour's original interests and inspired his own collection of creative chairs and numerous sculptural chairs of his own. Throughout his career the chair was one of his favorite forms and continues to draw interest from artists and art-lovers.
In 2007 Damian had the idea for The Texas Chair Project. Damian created 100 miniature chairs and mailed them to fellow artists throughout Texas. He included a letter inviting each artist to create a chair of his or her own making and mail it back to him in the same 8" by 8" by 8" box in which his gift was sent. Eighty Texas artists answered his call, and the chairs were exhibited at the Austin Museum of Art. Click here to see the Texas Chair Project description.
